What Fly5thBearing is about....

The Cleanex was designed and built by Dan Weseman.  The Cleanex is comprised of a Sonex airframe from the firewall back and the powerplant is a William Wynne style 3100cc Big Boy Corvair engine encased in a custom cowling.  The Cleanex's first flight took place on September 11th, 2005. Through building and flying the Cleanex we found the need to improve the service life and strength of the Corvair crank shaft by adding an additional bearing on the front of the engine. This site is here to help document our progress, and intended to be a help to the 'vair movement! Thanks for looking.

A Note from Dan Weseman...

All my life I have ridden in vehicles and fallen asleep thinking of flying or working on my next project. This day dreaming has always pushed me to get up the next day and do something.  When we say "A home builders dream come true" it really is! I hope you enjoy looking over this site, but please remember:  We do not think this is the "only way"or "best way" of doing what we have done, it is here to show how I, Dan Weseman, did it and it may not be the right way for you!  That said..... I have flown this design myself and am sharing all the info, both good and bad.  Use at your own risk, be responsible for your actions and accept the outcomes. Thanks again for looking!  Check back soon as we hope to keep this site updated regularly.  Have Fun and Fly Safe! -
