Value, Versatility and Integrity

Just a quick update on what has been going on at SPA over the last couple of weeks.

The spar plate that meets the spar cap requires a chamfer to sit properly. We do this for the builder using a table saw at just the right angle. The builder simply sands the edge and de-burrs when they receive the pre-assembled spars.

Upgrades coming online:

The upper longeron is a stock aluminum angle cut to and length and proper angle. The lower longeron is a custom extrusion we designed, also now cut to the exact angle. Earlier kits required the builder to use a compound miter saw to get the angle correct.

Coming Next:

Epoxy is light, strong and comes to the builder almost ready for paint! Down side = takes forever to cure so the design process is painstakingly slow….You can see Dan’s make shift heat gun oven used to attempt to get the epoxy to cure faster. It works! Still 10 times slower than vinyl ester though…

Grass Roots and Planting Seeds

We jumped in the back of Dan’s work truck with our boys this afternoon and ran them over to our neighbors pond to let them fish for half an hour.  We all had a great time, and the boys used up all the earth worms they had on their great grandfathers’ cane poles on some brim they caught and threw back….can’t beat that for wrapping up a hard work week!  And now to do it all again!

Grass Roots – Trying to never lose focus on the big picture..
