Description
The Panther Lycoming Conical engine mount is welded out of 4130 Chromoly steel and powder-coated in a semi-gloss grey. This mount is designed for the Lycoming conical mount engines.
Reasons to choose the Conical vs Dynafocal Lycoming Engine mount
- The conical mount is several pounds lighter
- The engine mount and hardware costs are approximately $500 less expensive for the conical configuration
- The conical mount is much easier to install for the builder
- The dynafocal configuration was designed by Lycoming for installing heavy constant speed props on their engines. Constant speed propellers are not supported on the Panther LS or Sport version. With the light weight wood or composite propellers that are supported on the Panther the dynafocal mount has no technical benefit or merit.
- Due to cost of the dynafocal components most people choose the hard aerobatic engine mount bushings which transmit more vibration in the air frame versus the conical mount system.
- The conical mount provides greater access area in the back of the engine for maintenance.
