Rolling Forward
The roll cage has been fitted, and some more adjustments made. Few more adjustments to come, then final welding. Should be ready for powder-coating by the end of next week. Forming of the test wing ribs continues.
I Do Not Have Time to Build an Airplane!
Well – I beg to differ. What can you accomplish on your EAB project in 1 hour? Consider this little story from today…. So, Dan sent an email late last night to our beta builder Bob Woolley. It went something like this… “I’ve got a few hours of work that could be done if you […]
Panther Fuselage Progress and Other Updates
The Panther Fuselage production welding is underway. We have a tube kit professionally cut off of a model that Dan designed with the CNC company. Then the tubes get fitted in the proper fixture and welded. There a many small fixtures, which create the sub pieces of the fuselage – then the sub pieces are […]
The weather isn’t the only thing thats HOT in Florida!
The Panther is painted, put back together, GRT installed and back in the air as of this morning. Here are some photos on the ground. In flight shots coming up soon!
When will the Panther fly again?
The Panther reassembly is coming along, but visually not as appealing as we hope it will be in a day or so. The whole fuse is covered in tarp to keep us from scratching it – and getting over spray from the panel getting re-dusted after the expanded hole for the GRT unit. We do […]
Update on the Panther – Paint Job and Chance to See it Fly
The wings are back from the paint shop and they look amazing! The colors turned out exactly as we hoped. The cowling, canopy skirt and the tail fairings are being worked over by their awesome body guy. Sunday consisted of getting the fuselage prepped for paint. Sanding down proud rivet heads, scuffing and scotch brite. […]
Panther Final Touches
We are working on the final touches in preparation for first flight. Things are going well, and the pressure of the inspection is off so the air around the hangar seems lighter, and more fun. This is good, because it was a little tense before. Lack of sleep makes anyone a little edgy. The DAR […]
Fiberglass Tips and Keeping It Fun
There were many different tasks going on in the hangar today. We are prepping for inspection so the “all important to-do list” is key to making sure every task gets completed. Sometimes the to-do lists can seem long and overwhelming so a little competition can sometimes help mountains become more like a ginormous hills. So […]
Fuel Tanks, Firewall, Cowling and Canopy Skirt
I started assembling the left fuel tank today with the Flamemaster and things went very well. All of the end or butt ribs had been sealed except for one right one, so I started with that. This way it would have time to cure before I got around to it. I have been mixing in […]
Canopy skirt gives the Panther even more dimension
Yesterday afternoon Dan started on the canopy skirt. First things first – cover everything the resin will touch with tape. So after about 4 rolls of wide masking tape along with poster board the Panther looks like a little funny. Then Dan started laying out the fiberglass and cut a bunch of 8 inch wide […]
