Okay, I may have answered my own question. I opened up the slit in the bottom of the cowl from rear forward to 19 inches. With two people the lower cowl can now be carefully removed, I will be making two moderately heavy gage plates to cover the slit when installed.

Nose Gear vs Cowling vs Three Blade Prop?!
I have a problem...I'm trying to clearance bottom of the cowl so that I can drop it straight down and clear the nose gear leg and the three blade prop. As you may imagine as the cowl goes down it goes forward along the down sloping NLG leg and moves forward to contact at least two blades of the three blade prop.
So, I cut slit in the bottom of the cowl which aids in it dropping straight down before sliding forward. The problem is that I don't want the slit to go too far forward and compromise the cowling's structural integrity.
Right now it appears that the three blade prop and the tri-gear are a bad idea.
Any suggestions???
