Tony,
Thanks for the links. I have to hand it to the Corvair people. They sure have a lot of information about the Corvair aircraft engine conversions. I wonder if anyone ever put together a one page, general description of the Corvair engine. Kind of like a "Corvair's for dummies" page.

Glen,
Have a look at this: http://flycorvair.net/2013/11/18/gettin ... ence-page/
Parts 5 thru 9 and 17 will get you started. Then go back and read it all. Phil Maxson, the author of part 17 is currently building a Panther.

Re: Corvair
I was wondering, approximately how much would it cost for a customer to build (in 2014 dollars) an engine like the one in the Panther prototype? This would be starting from scratch (would have to buy a crankcase, etc.), and ending up with a 100 hp engine (new crankshaft, 5th bearing).
If the aircraft is flown on a regular basis, and maintenance is kept up, what is the approximate lifespan of a Corvair engine (TBO, cylinder overhauls, etc.)? Are there issues with the valves and unleaded fuel? How often do the valves need to be adjusted?

Yes - the plan is for the Panther to be there. Not sure if flying up or trailer-ing up with all of the family.

Will the Panther be making an appearance at the Corvair College in Barnwell, SC in November?

Hi Rachel - Sorry, both spelled your name wrong and referenced the wrong builder. It's Bob is building a Sport version. - Chrisrlweseman wrote:Tony is doing LSA and a Jabiru 3300

Re: Corvair
Hi Rachael - O-320 / Whirl Wind 151, on a Sport model obviously. What combo is Tony planning for his Sport? - Thanks! Did you have one in mind that you were curious about?
