Dan, I fabricated a simple aluminum bracket to mount my tablet to the instrument panel. The tablet slips in and out from the top.

See my Kitlog post at the address below. Let me know if you have any questions.

A RAM ball mount (Aircraft Spruce part # 11-04083) will be my solution for the Bearhawk Patrol I'm building. I'll actually be mounting two of them to the panel (one on each side), and I can then mount my iPhone and iPad (today) or my "Who-knows-what" device in the future using the appropriate extension arms to position the device as I see fit. I'm pretty confident that whatever device becomes popular in the future, RAM will have a cradle for it that will attach to their system.

I flew in a different airplane with this kneeboard and would recommend it

A good solution, especially if your instrument panel space is limited.

For mounting it on the panel, I considered simple velcro (high adhesion type), but i never actually implemented it. I wouldn't want to have a permanent mounting solution for a piece of disposable consumer electronics that would be outdated before you know it. With something like velcro on the instrument panel you can stick basically anything you want to it.

I plan to use a 7" tablet for navigation backup. If anyone has photos of their installation of this item, please post.

Thanks,
