A great big congratulations to Ryan Fiscus! He is the proud pilot and builder of Panther SN059 – N5921P. Ryan lives in Burleson, TX and flies out of the Fort Worth Spinks Airport. Here is a note from Ryan, along with a photo and video.
“I can’t say enough good things about the SPA guys and the plane itself. Starting with the build; considering it was my first build, They were always there to answer questions and solutions and even provided replacement parts when I would mess something up!
My expectations on the first flight: I pretty much knew I was going to like the plane and I had a really “good” idea of what it was going to be like, but I have to say…..it ended up being so much better than I ever could have imagined. I love love love how the plane flies and handles. I got lucky and it flew perfectly straight and level and no adjustments are needed to flight control surfaces.
I was really nervous about it being a tailwheel, as I’m a lower-time pilot with only about 7 hours TW training in a Champ. And those are very different birds, to say the least, so I didn’t know what to expect…..all I can say is that it’s about 10 times easier than a Champ, as this airplane does exactly what you tell it to do vs. constantly “fighting” or “anticipating” what the airplane is going to do. Hope that helps someone with the same fear I had!
