Remembering and Honoring our Veterans –
Happy Veterans Day to all of you! We, here at SPA, take Veterans Day seriously as we fully understand how much our Veterans have sacrificed for our freedom. Dan and I come from a long line of Veterans. My grandfather served in the US Army Air Corps and my grandmother was Sgt. in the US Army WAACS during WWII.
My father was an Army Sergeant in Vietnam. My step father retired as Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and served in Vietnam as a medic for the Marines. Dan’s father retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief, and his “Uncle Bob” worked with guided missiles in the Army during Vietnam. Now our oldest son, Brett, ships off to boot camp – TOMORROW – for the Navy, joining their Airman Pack program.
This country was built on the backs and the souls of our soldiers and we honor all of the men and women, and their families, who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. Thank you for your sacrifice – from our family to yours!
Production Update –
We have been busy bending and forming parts that we have received from our shops, while waiting on the remaining parts to get completed. We did have a batch of spar caps received that QA’d out of spec, so we are waiting on more as replacements. We should have these within a week. The welding team at SPA has been turning and burning on the forward fuselage cages. We have production number 27 coming out of the fixture this week which puts 12 cages ready to go to powder coat at the end of this week!
We received word today that the canopy skirt, tail fairing and universal cowling mold work is almost complete. We should have parts headed back our way within a week to 10 days.
The last bit of sheet metal parts are in production now and will be delivered in 10-14 days.
So – what next….
The next 4 -6 weeks will be full of crate building, part gathering and deliveries shipping out to builders across the US, and across the pond, for a just in time for Christmas delivery! Factory built fuel tanks and wing spars will be wrapping up over the next 4-6 weeks as well.
It will be a super busy end of the year time for SPA with all that is going on. Time to finish the year with a big bang!
(This should help when I need something to keep my mind off Brett being at boot camp, freezing cold (at Great Lakes, remember we are Floridians) and away for the holidays for the first time ever….)
