Panther Builders Manual

The Panther Main wing spars are the “back bone” of the wings.

They are made from (3) ¼ inch thick stiffener plates, (1) 1/16 thick web, (1) .032 thick outer web, and 4 aluminum channel machined caps.   The stiffener plates and 1/16” web are precision reamed to accept bushings for the wing pins (supplied with plates/web).    The spars overlap in the center.  The “layout” can be very confusing.  The spars are delivered to the builder bolted together in the correct orientation.  Verify the layout is correct before drilling the holes.  It helps to orient them on the work surface correctly (i.e. right spar with tip toward right face down as viewing from aft).

The Panther Sport spars are identical to LSA, except they are trimmed one “bay” shorter.  See plans and trim spars per the layout on Sport spars.

The spars are delivered in a crate along with all the other long parts that require truck freight delivery due to length.  The longerons, push tubes, rear spar channels and the slider tubes are shipped along with the spars.  The crate is approximately 152” long, 13” wide and 15” tall and weighs 225lbs.
