The Panther has a “wet wing” fuel tank. The tanks are fabricated from aluminum sheet metal with 6 ribs each, a tank back, and a single piece skin. The standard tank build uses a float type fuel sender, but a capacitance type sending unit and “flop tube” can be installed for aerobatics if desired (see notes at beginning of flop tube supplement sheet for more information). The tanks are sealed with two part polysulfide based (or equivalent) sealant and closed end blind rivets.
There are two fuel tank size options: 21 or 27 gallons total for the aircraft. The 21 gallon total capacity fuel tank option leaves the outer wing bay without fuel carrying capacity (see option below).
We recommend Newton fuel caps and offer them for sale on our website, and they are included in our Fuel Tank Hardware Kit. The tank skins are
predrilled for them, but the Usher style (or other) fuel caps are also an option and can be found at your favorite aircr ft supply store.
