The Panther plans contain about 30 24x36 sheets (when all plans sheets are complete). Our goal was to keep the “information density” of the pages at a reasonable and manageable level, which is difficult give our wide range of builders. To help keep information overload to a minimum, start at the back of the build path you have chosen (plans or kit) and move forward one page at time.
The plans layout is such that you start from the back and work forward.
The title block in the lower right corner gives you important information.
The plans sheet name is followed with a (K) kit, (P) plans, or (K/P) kit and plans. This lets you know if you need this information or if you need to go back or forward.
PLANS BUILDING ONLY OPTION NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME
A plans builder (limited parts available to plans build at this time) will start at the last page of any section and start fabrication of the parts, on (P) sheets that come in the kits. The building sequence is such that a plans builder will basically become a kit builder, but he will fabricate parts using (P) plans sheets instead of SPA, so he will continue on and use the (K/P) and (K) sheets as he/she progresses.
For a kit builder you will skip all pages marked (P) and start on the first sheet that contains a (K) or (K/P) then work forward. K/P sheets typically only contain minor fabrication, like trimming a rib shorter or notching the corner etc. In some cases for layout purpose may have a few (P) type items and a few (K) assemblies as well.
The title block also contains the scale, which may also say “noted” which means a particular view may be a scale other than the main scale and it will say so under the view name.
The revision date and number will also be given. You can check https://flywithspa.sharepoint.com/sites/Builders/Documentation/Forms/AllItems.aspx under Revision Logs for latest revisions.
General plans notes are located above or beside the title block, and will give basic notes and any cautions.
The view title of the part title will also have more specific notes under them.
On Some (P) sheets (IE P-T-HT-skin) it may appear as if many dimensions are missing, but close examination will show these are duplicated from another area etc. IE - many rivet rows are the same and we give the dimensions for one and the others should be apparent and/or noted. There are also notes like “left and right side identical” aimed at decreasing duplicates and “clutter” on a certain page.
The plans package are intended to be used in conjunction with our build manual and online resources. Using them together should result in an easy enjoyable build. As always if you need us we are here to help keep you building.
Lastly we are listening to your suggestions and these resources will all evolve from builder/customer use and feedback!
