Re: Documentation and Taxes
You will find that it is different in every state. Here in SC, we have to pay property tax on the plane when it is registered. So, I just reserve the number until time to register.

Documentation and Taxes
This is my first build of an aircraft that will be registered. For those of you who have navigated the system before what documents should be preserved and presented for the purpose of paying user tax in our respective home state? Do we avoid paying penalties by "paying-as-we-go" so to speak? I seem to remember a local RV-7 builder who was penalized by Illinois for postponing his payment until the aircraft was complete rather than paying as components were purchased. What about tax paid to another state when making out-of-state purchases? I'm guessing EAA can provide a lot of information, but for everyone's benefit I thought I'd ask here as well.......
Thanks,
Ron
