I responded to a ticket Yuri had open and wanted the info here public as well so I am copying much of my response in below. Also for information Yuri is running a Titan 0-340 with the Air Flow Performance Fuel injection.
"As we have discussed The Titan flying has a standard vertical hot sump with a AFP TB mounted on a FM-100 90 degree adapter. He has a tapered cone K&N mounted to the front of the TB. He built a simple sheet metal box around the top , back and bot side of the air filter. It is attached by sandwiching between the TB and the FM-100. The box seals around the cowl with cowl seal much like the baffling. It is very simple and works well. I have searched my email tickets etc, and cannot find the photos. They were from 2015.
The Carb used on the O-320s is a MA4 . It is about 4.75" tall and It fits in the Panther cowl with the Vans FAB and the short E3211 K&N filter. The FM-150 is 5.5 inch long which should be the same length/ height as the MA4-5 used on the O-360s ,this is to long/tall to fit into the cowl on a Panther.
You may consider using the FM-100 95 degree adapter so the airfilter is moved up a bit , but i dont think it is needed.
I will continue to look for the photos of the flying setup ,and forward if i do.
Im not to this stage of the Cougar yet, and it it will be a while until i am if ever. I did mock the 370 up with the cowl to check the exhaust fit and and i'm confident it will work as described. The flying Panther Flying with the Titan , your engine and my 370 "should" all have the same sump. Can you compare with the photo above?
For information the 0-340 use the MA 4-5 Carb due to the power being the same as the O-360. Since the MA 4-5 is to tall to fit all O-340s will run fuel injection. I will post pics when i (or likley Rachel ) finds them.

Yuri - yes I used the complete Van’s FAB kit. The only mod I made was to epoxy an aluminum plate in the bottom of the airbox to give a hard, flat surface for the filter to rest on. This also helps “squeeze” the filter top and bottom. The FAB fiberglass housing comes much taller than needed and will get trimmed flush with the top once the filter is fitted. For the cowling, I tacked together floral foam, carved to the shape needed, glassed and removed the remaining foam with acetone. The FAB instructions are very thorough in walking you through the fitment process.

I too went the Vans route on my O-235. The photos show the extension tube i made compresses against a fiberglass mod on the inlet side. works like a charm.

My oil sump looks a little different — the intake on the sump bottom is about 3-4” forward of what Fred and Brian have.

Brian, your airbox looks to be full Vans-sized. Is there a trick to make it fit?

Numerous folks in the RV community have tried alternatives to the Van’s FAB setup with less than desirable results. Do yourself a favor and search “FAB alternatives” on VAF before going down that path. Considering there are more than 10,000 RV’s flying with most having the standard setup, it’s hard to argue that a better tested option exists.
