Assembling Rudder Pedal Adjusters

1. Make 2 barrel nuts by drilling a #21 hole (0.159” or 5/32”) through side of 3/8”  diameter by ¾” aluminum rod.  Then tap the hole using a 10-32 tap.  Make sure the hole is as close to center of the rod as you can.

2. Picture below shows the components of the adjuster: P4614 cable adjuster, P8510 Cable inner adjuster, AN3-6A bolt and the barrel nut from step 1.  

Note: The inner tube has been plated to prevent corrosion.

3. Install barrel nut inside of the inner tube at the end with no slot.  Slid the inner tube with barrel nut into the outer tube as shown below.  Install AN3-6A bolt with medium strength blue Loctite on threads of bolt.

4. Attach P8509 rudder cable attach bracket to the P8510 inner tube using an AN3-7A bolt, AN960-10 washer and MS21044N3 Nut.  Bolt head should be on the inboard side as installed on the aircraft.  Picture below is of the left side adjuster.   Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the right side adjuster.
