1. With the rudder cable loose, draw a line 3/16” below the bottom of the slot on both sides of the tailcone. This will locate where the bottom of the fairlead should be. The previously installed fairlead and cable is pulled up and out of the way to give room to work.
2. Pull the rudder cable tight and attach to the rudder on both sides with a temporary bolt slid in the control horn. The bottom of the fairlead should be on the line drawn previously. Slide the fairlead forward or aft until it is approximately centered over the slot. Check inside the tailcone to verify that the cable is not touching the skin. The fairlead can be shifted slightly to keep the cable off the skin. The fairlead is on the outside to allow easier replacement later, and to allow for more wear surface area, for a longer life.
3. After both fairleads are installed, you can install the clevis pin in the control horn.
