Note: if using alternate fuel caps install per manufacturer recommendation
1. Fit fuel cap flanges (P3705 from SPA) per photos and plans (sheet P-W-FT general layout) and cleco in place noting orientation! Mark these for the tank you are
working on, and also the orientation.
Note: The flanges have a curve machined into them to match the wing profile. This curve must be fitted properly so the flanges fit well and the cap is in the correct orientation. The “notches” in the flange should be at the forward and aft position
2. Up drill and cleco #30
3. If your skins are not predrilled for drain flanges (P3703) fit them per plans (sheet P-W-FT-general layout, details). Drill and cleco #40, then up drill to #30 and cleco. Mark the center then remove the flange and drill the center ½ inch hole (a #30 pilot hole then finishing with a “uni bit” works well )
4. Temporarily Install proper fuel sending (P3702) unit
5. Bend float wire per plans (sheet P-W-FT-general layout, details) and test fit. Verify the float will travel extreme top and bottom of tank. Adjust as needed.
Note: if using alternate fuel senders complete fitment now
Note: you may choose to set the right tank aside and complete left tank to this stage before continuing with sealing/final assembly.
