1. Slide step into the mounting tube welded in the fuselage. Hole through the belly skin for the step should have been cutout while fitting the belly skin to the aircraft. Some of the powder coating may have to be removed to allow the step tube to slide into the mounting tube, a light coating of primer and some anti-seize compound will help with corrosion.
2. Rotate step until the step bottom is perpendicular to the side of the airframe.
3. Check the fit of the step to the bottom of the fuselage. Some filing of the streamline tubing might be necessary to get a tight fit against the skin.
4. Drill a 3/16” hole through the mounting tube and step tube approximately halfway between the fuselage square tube and the upper bracket for the step. Note: do not install step until after the bottom skin of the tail cone has been installed, as some rivets are impossible to install with the step in the way. It is easier to drill the hole without the tail cone belly skin installed.
